Ingredients
Scale
Chocolate Layers
- 1½ cups dark chocolate chips
- 12 ounces white chocolate baking bars (three 4-ounce bars)
- ¾ cup pink candy melts
Toppings
- ¼ cup Valentine’s Day candy
- 2 tablespoons Valentine’s Day sprinkles
Instructions
- Prepare the baking pan: Line a half sheet baking pan with parchment paper, ensuring an overhang to easily lift the chocolate bark later, and set aside.
- Melt dark chocolate: Place the dark chocolate chips in a microwave-safe bowl. Heat for 30 seconds, then stir. Continue heating in 15-20 second increments, stirring well each time until the chocolate is completely melted and smooth.
- Spread dark chocolate: Pour the melted dark chocolate onto the parchment paper and use a spatula to spread it evenly into a thin layer.
- Partially set the chocolate: Let the dark chocolate sit at room temperature for about 10 minutes or until mostly but not completely hardened.
- Melt white chocolate: Break the white chocolate bars into pieces and place in a microwave-safe bowl. Heat for 30 seconds, stir, then continue heating in short increments with stirring until smooth and fully melted.
- Melt pink candy melts: In a separate microwave-safe bowl, heat the pink candy melts starting with 30 seconds, then stirring and continuing in 15-20 second increments until smooth and melted.
- Layer white chocolate: Pour the melted white chocolate over the partially set dark chocolate and quickly spread it out evenly, as it will harden fast.
- Drizzle pink candy: While the white chocolate layer is still soft, drizzle the melted pink candy melts over it.
- Create marble effect: Use a toothpick gently to swirl the pink candy melts and white chocolate, creating a marbled pattern without disturbing the dark chocolate layer below.
- Add toppings: Immediately sprinkle Valentine’s Day candies and sprinkles over the warm chocolate layers evenly.
- Cool and set: Allow the chocolate bark to cool and fully harden for 30 minutes at room temperature.
- Serve: Once hardened, break or cut the bark into pieces and serve.
Notes
- Store the bark in an airtight container at room temperature for 4-5 days or refrigerate for up to 2 weeks.
- For longer storage, freeze the bark in a freezer-safe container for up to 4 months.
- Adjust serving size by breaking the bark into larger or smaller pieces to suit your needs.
- Leave extra parchment paper overhang when lining the baking sheet to easily lift the bark out after set.
- Heat chocolates and candy melts slowly in short increments with frequent stirring to avoid seizing.
- Adding layers while the previous one is almost but not fully hardened helps layers bond better and creates an attractive marbled effect.
