Description

A bold and zesty spicy dill pickle margarita that combines the tangy brine of dill pickles with the classic margarita flavors, enhanced by a spicy-sweet hot honey rim and a sparkling finish. Perfect for adventurous cocktail enthusiasts looking to add a savory twist to their drinks.

Ingredients

Scale

Rim

  • As needed Tajin, for the rim
  • 1 tbsp hot honey (for brushing rim)

Cocktail

  • 2 oz tequila
  • 1 oz dill pickle brine
  • 1 oz Cointreau
  • 1/2 oz lime juice
  • 1 tbsp hot honey (use to taste)
  • As needed sparkling water, to top
  • 2 mini dill pickles, to garnish

Hot Honey (optional homemade)

  • 1/2 cup honey
  • 1/4 cup hot sauce (such as Frank’s)
  • 1 tsp cayenne pepper
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp onion powder
  • 1/2 tsp red pepper flakes

Instructions

  1. Prepare the glass rim. Brush the rim of your cocktail glass with hot honey, then pour 1-2 tablespoons of Tajin onto a shallow plate. Dip and roll the glass rim into the Tajin, shaking off any excess seasoning.
  2. Mix the cocktail. In a cocktail shaker, combine the tequila, dill pickle brine, Cointreau, lime juice, and hot honey. Add ice to the shaker and shake vigorously until the mixture is chilled.
  3. Serve the margarita. Strain the cocktail mixture into the prepared glass. Top off with sparkling water to add a refreshing effervescence.
  4. Garnish the drink. Place mini dill pickles on a cocktail pick or directly into the glass as garnish to enhance the pickle flavor and visual appeal.
  5. Optional homemade hot honey. In a small saucepan, combine honey, hot sauce, cayenne pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, and red pepper flakes. Heat for 1-2 minutes, stirring until all granules dissolve. Cool and store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 weeks or refrigerated for longer storage.

Notes

  • Adjust the amount of hot honey to your preferred spice and sweetness level.
  • The Tajin rim adds a tangy, spicy kick complementing the cocktail’s flavors.
  • You can substitute store-bought hot honey if you don’t want to make your own version.
  • Use fresh lime juice for the best bright flavor.
  • Chill your glass beforehand for an extra refreshing experience.
