Description

A refreshing Peach Iced Tea made with brewed tea, sweetened peach syrup, and frozen peaches, perfect for a cool and fruity summer beverage.

Ingredients

Scale

Tea

  • 4 cups water
  • 1 family size tea bag

Peach Syrup

  • 1 cup water
  • ¾ cup sugar
  • ¾ cup honey
  • 2 cups frozen peaches, thawed and pureed (or fresh peaches, peeled and sliced)

For Serving

  • 2 cups frozen peaches (Do not thaw. If using fresh peaches, slice and freeze until ready to serve)
  • Ice cubes as needed

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Tea: Bring 4 cups of water to a boil. Remove from heat, add the family size tea bag, and steep for 5 minutes. Pour the brewed tea into a 2-quart pitcher and set aside to cool.
  2. Make the Peach Syrup: In a medium saucepan, combine 1 cup water, sugar, and honey. Bring to a boil, stirring until sugar dissolves completely. Add the pureed peaches and return to a low boil. Then remove from heat and allow to cool.
  3. Strain the Syrup: Pour the cooled peach mixture through a mesh sieve over a small bowl, pressing on the peach pulp to extract as much juice as possible. Discard the pulp.
  4. Combine Tea and Syrup: Add the peach syrup to the brewed tea, tasting as you go until the desired sweetness is reached. Usually, 1 to 2 cups of syrup per 4 cups of tea balances sweetness nicely. For a single 8-ounce serving, use ¼ to ½ cup syrup.
  5. Serve the Peach Iced Tea: Divide the frozen peaches between 4 glasses, add ice cubes, and pour the peach tea mixture over the peaches and ice. Stir gently and enjoy immediately.
  6. Storage: Store any leftover peach syrup and brewed tea in the refrigerator for later use.

Notes

  • Using frozen peaches works well and ensures availability even when fresh peaches are not in season.
  • You can control the sweetness by adjusting the amount of peach syrup added to the tea.
  • For a colder drink, serve with plenty of ice and frozen peaches.
  • Store leftover tea and syrup in refrigerator and consume within 3-4 days.
  • Fresh peaches must be peeled and sliced before pureeing or freezing for serving.
