Ingredients
Scale
Honey Ginger Simple Syrup
- 1/3 cup honey
- 1 cup water
- 1 medium piece of fresh ginger, peeled and sliced
Lemonade
- 1 1/2 cups freshly squeezed lemon juice (preferably Meyer lemons)
- 4 cups water
- Fresh mint leaves
Instructions
- Make the honey ginger simple syrup: In a small pot or tea kettle, bring 1 cup of water to a boil. Once boiling, turn the heat off and add the honey and sliced ginger. Let the mixture steep for 20 minutes to infuse the flavors.
- Prepare the lemonade base: While the syrup is steeping, juice the lemons and pour the lemon juice into a large pitcher. Add 4 cups of water and ice to the pitcher and stir to combine.
- Combine and strain: Strain the ginger slices from the honey syrup and add the syrup to the pitcher with the lemon water. Mix well to combine all the flavors evenly.
- Add fresh mint and serve: Add fresh mint leaves to the pitcher for a refreshing aroma and flavor. Refrigerate or serve immediately over ice for a cool, revitalizing drink.
Notes
- Use Meyer lemons if available for a sweeter, less acidic lemonade.
- Adjust the honey amount based on sweetness preference or substitute with agave syrup for a vegan option.
- Steeping time for the honey ginger syrup can be extended up to 30 minutes for stronger ginger flavor.
- Fresh mint leaves add a refreshing touch, but can be omitted if unavailable.
