Ingredients
Scale
Truffle Mixture
- 36 regular Oreos
- ½ cup whipped cream cheese spread
Coating & Decoration
- 12 ounces vanilla almond bark
- Green gel food coloring
- 18 red heart sprinkles
Instructions
- Crush Oreos: Place the Oreos in a food processor or blender and crush completely into crumbs, about 3 minutes.
- Mix with Cream Cheese: Pour the Oreo crumbs into a large mixing bowl and stir in the cream cheese spread until a thick mixture forms. Using clean hands can make this easier.
- Form Balls: Scoop the mixture into balls using a 1 ½ tablespoons cookie scoop and roll them smooth.
- Chill Balls: Place the truffle balls on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and refrigerate for 1 hour or until firm.
- Melt Almond Bark: Place the vanilla almond bark in a medium microwave-safe bowl and microwave for 1 minute. Stir well, then continue microwaving in 15-30 second increments, stirring between each, until completely melted, about 2 minutes total.
- Color Almond Bark: Add green gel food coloring to the melted almond bark and stir until the color is evenly distributed. Avoid using liquid food coloring to prevent seizing.
- Dip Truffles: Dip each truffle ball into the melted almond bark until fully coated. Allow excess coating to drip off, then place back onto the parchment paper.
- Add Sprinkles: While the coating is still soft, place one red heart sprinkle on each truffle.
- Final Chill: Return the truffles to the refrigerator for 1 hour or until the coating is fully hardened.
- Serve: Serve the truffles cold or at room temperature.
Notes
- Store the truffles covered in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks.
- Freeze well-wrapped truffles in a freezer-safe container or bag for 3-4 months.
- You can substitute any favorite Oreo variety for regular Oreos.
- Regular cream cheese can be used if softened to room temperature, but you may need less than ½ cup.
- Feel free to decorate with other holiday sprinkles or leave plain without sprinkles.
- Using your hands to mix the Oreo crumbs and cream cheese is easier than a spoon.
- Do not use liquid food coloring as it may seize the almond bark coating.
