Description

These Grinch Christmas Truffles are festive, delightful treats made with crushed Oreos and cream cheese, coated in green vanilla almond bark, and topped with red heart sprinkles for a perfect holiday dessert.

Ingredients

Scale

Truffle Mixture

  • 36 regular Oreos
  • ½ cup whipped cream cheese spread

Coating & Decoration

  • 12 ounces vanilla almond bark
  • Green gel food coloring
  • 18 red heart sprinkles

Instructions

  1. Crush Oreos: Place the Oreos in a food processor or blender and crush completely into crumbs, about 3 minutes.
  2. Mix with Cream Cheese: Pour the Oreo crumbs into a large mixing bowl and stir in the cream cheese spread until a thick mixture forms. Using clean hands can make this easier.
  3. Form Balls: Scoop the mixture into balls using a 1 ½ tablespoons cookie scoop and roll them smooth.
  4. Chill Balls: Place the truffle balls on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and refrigerate for 1 hour or until firm.
  5. Melt Almond Bark: Place the vanilla almond bark in a medium microwave-safe bowl and microwave for 1 minute. Stir well, then continue microwaving in 15-30 second increments, stirring between each, until completely melted, about 2 minutes total.
  6. Color Almond Bark: Add green gel food coloring to the melted almond bark and stir until the color is evenly distributed. Avoid using liquid food coloring to prevent seizing.
  7. Dip Truffles: Dip each truffle ball into the melted almond bark until fully coated. Allow excess coating to drip off, then place back onto the parchment paper.
  8. Add Sprinkles: While the coating is still soft, place one red heart sprinkle on each truffle.
  9. Final Chill: Return the truffles to the refrigerator for 1 hour or until the coating is fully hardened.
  10. Serve: Serve the truffles cold or at room temperature.

Notes

  • Store the truffles covered in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks.
  • Freeze well-wrapped truffles in a freezer-safe container or bag for 3-4 months.
  • You can substitute any favorite Oreo variety for regular Oreos.
  • Regular cream cheese can be used if softened to room temperature, but you may need less than ½ cup.
  • Feel free to decorate with other holiday sprinkles or leave plain without sprinkles.
  • Using your hands to mix the Oreo crumbs and cream cheese is easier than a spoon.
  • Do not use liquid food coloring as it may seize the almond bark coating.
