Description

These Cheeseburger Spring Rolls combine all the classic flavors of a cheeseburger wrapped in crispy spring roll wrappers, perfect as a fun appetizer or snack. Ground beef seasoned with ketchup, mustard, Worcestershire sauce, and spices is mixed with cheddar cheese and dill pickles, then wrapped and fried to golden perfection. Serve them hot with your favorite dipping sauces for a delicious twist.

Ingredients

Scale

Filling

  • 1 pound ground beef (80/20 for best flavor)
  • 1 small onion, finely diced
  • 2 tablespoons ketchup
  • 1 tablespoon yellow mustard
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • Kosher salt, to taste
  • Freshly cracked black pepper, to taste
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar or American cheese
  • 1/4 cup finely chopped dill pickles

Spring Rolls

  • 12 spring roll wrappers (thawed if frozen)
  • 2 tablespoons flour
  • 3 tablespoons water
  • Oil for frying or cooking spray for air frying

Dipping Sauces

  • Mix of ketchup and mayonnaise
  • Sweet chili sauce and sour cream

Instructions

  1. Cook the filling: Heat a skillet over medium-high heat. Add ground beef and diced onion, cooking until browned with crispy edges, about 7 minutes. Drain all grease from the skillet.
  2. Season and mix: Stir in ketchup, mustard, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, onion powder, kosher salt, and freshly cracked black pepper. Cook for another minute, then let the mixture cool for 5 minutes. Once cooled, mix in shredded cheese and chopped dill pickles.
  3. Prepare spring roll wrappers: Keep spring roll wrappers covered under a damp towel to prevent drying out. Prepare the sealing paste by mixing flour and water into a smooth paste.
  4. Assemble rolls: Place about 2 tablespoons of filling in the center of each wrapper. Fold the sides inward, roll tightly like a burrito, and seal the edges with the flour paste. Do not overfill to prevent bursting during cooking.
  5. Fry the spring rolls: Heat about 2 inches of oil in a frying pan to 350°F. Fry 3 to 4 rolls at a time for 3 to 4 minutes until golden brown. Remove and drain on paper towels.
  6. Optional air frying: For a lighter version, spritz the rolls with oil and air fry at 390°F for 10 to 12 minutes, flipping halfway through cooking for even crispness.
  7. Serve: Serve the hot Cheeseburger Spring Rolls with dipping sauces such as a mix of ketchup and mayonnaise or sweet chili sauce with sour cream.
  8. Freezing instructions: To freeze uncooked rolls, place them on a parchment-lined tray and freeze until solid. Transfer to a zip-top bag. Cook from frozen, adding 1 to 2 minutes to the cooking time.

Notes

  • Use 80/20 ground beef for the best flavor and moisture balance.
  • Keep spring roll wrappers covered with a damp towel to prevent them from drying and cracking.
  • You can substitute cheddar with American cheese or your favorite melty cheese.
  • For a healthier option, try air frying instead of deep frying.
  • Seal the rolls properly with flour paste to avoid filling leakage during frying.
  • Adjust seasoning to taste, especially salt and pepper, according to preference.
  • Use fresh dill pickles for the best crunch and flavor contrast.
  • Cook rolls in small batches to maintain oil temperature and prevent sogginess.
