Ingredients
Scale
Pork
- 4 boneless pork chops about 1 inch thick
- Salt and pepper to taste
Breading Mixture
- 1 1/2 cups plain breadcrumbs
- 1 teaspoon kosher salt
- 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/4 teaspoon onion powder
- 1/4 teaspoon celery seed
- 1/3 cup freshly grated Parmesan cheese
Other
- 1/3 cup mayonnaise
- Cooking spray
- Fresh minced parsley for garnish
- Lemon wedges for serving
Instructions
- Prepare: Preheat the oven to 425 degrees Fahrenheit and line a rimmed baking sheet with aluminum foil or parchment paper. Set aside.
- Season Pork: Pat the pork chops dry thoroughly with paper towels. Lightly season both sides of the pork chops with salt and pepper to taste.
- Make Breading Mixture: In a shallow bowl, combine the plain breadcrumbs, kosher salt, smoked paprika, black pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, celery seed, and grated Parmesan cheese. Stir until all ingredients are well mixed.
- Bread Pork Chops: Spread a thin layer of mayonnaise on one side of a pork chop. Press this mayo-covered side down into the breadcrumb mixture until well coated. Then spread another thin layer of mayonnaise on the other side and sprinkle it with the breadcrumb mixture, pressing gently to adhere. Place the breaded pork chop on the prepared baking sheet. Repeat this process with the remaining pork chops.
- Bake: Once all pork chops are breaded and placed on the baking sheet, lightly spray the tops with cooking spray. Bake in the preheated oven for 20 minutes or until the pork reaches an internal temperature of 145 degrees Fahrenheit.
- Serve: Remove the pork chops from the oven and let rest for a few minutes. Serve garnished with fresh minced parsley and accompanied by lemon wedges for squeezing over the chops.
Notes
- This recipe yields 4 pork chops but can be doubled easily if more servings are needed.
- You can substitute mayonnaise with Greek yogurt for a lighter coating.
- For added flavor, consider adding a pinch of cayenne pepper to the breadcrumb mixture.
- The pork chops can also be pan-fried or air-fried using the alternate methods described in the chef tips for different textures.
- Letting the pork chops rest after baking helps keep them juicy.
- Use fresh lemon wedges to brighten the flavors when serving.
