Description

Create festive Christmas Tree Rice Krispie Treats with melted marshmallows, green food coloring, and crunchy pretzel sticks. These easy-to-make treats are decorated with white chocolate and colorful sprinkles, perfect for holiday celebrations.

Ingredients

Scale

Main Ingredients

  • 5 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 16 ounces marshmallows (1 bag)
  • 3 drops green gel food coloring
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 5 ½ cups rice krispies cereal

Decorations

  • 12 pretzel sticks
  • Christmas sprinkles
  • 4 ounces white chocolate, melted

Instructions

  1. Prepare the pan: Lightly grease a 13×9-inch baking dish or line it with parchment paper, then set aside.
  2. Melt butter and marshmallows: In a large pot, melt the butter over low heat. Add marshmallows and stir continuously over low heat until smooth and fully melted.
  3. Add coloring and vanilla: Remove the pot from heat. Add green gel food coloring and vanilla extract, stirring to combine evenly.
  4. Mix in cereal: Fold in the rice krispies cereal until all pieces are fully coated with the marshmallow mixture.
  5. Shape the treats: Pour the mixture into the prepared baking dish and press gently to form an even layer. Avoid pressing too hard to maintain softness.
  6. Set the treats: Allow the treats to set at room temperature for at least one hour until firm.
  7. Cut into shapes: Slice the set treats horizontally in half, then cut each half into triangles to resemble Christmas trees.
  8. Decorate: Melt white chocolate according to package instructions. Carefully insert one pretzel stick at the base of each triangle to mimic a tree trunk.
  9. Finish decorating: Pipe melted white chocolate onto each tree and sprinkle with Christmas sprinkles. Let the chocolate set before serving.

Notes

  • Use fresh marshmallows and cereal for the best flavor and texture; stale ingredients will result in stale treats.
  • Store treats in an airtight container at room temperature for up to one week to maintain freshness.
  • Do not press the mixture too firmly into the pan; pressing gently keeps the treats soft and chewy.
